Polka Dots Chardon Skirt

*This is a project done during the MMM'14 (it was one of my goals).
What can I say about the Chardon Skirt? If you like high waisted skirts you should definitely sew one! I've already worn it A LOT! So it's time for sewing another one!

*Empezando nuevos proyectos.
* Wearing my favourite fabric ever & an orange handbag.
So, what's Me Made May?
Me-Made-May'14 (MMM'14 for short) is a challenge designed to encourage people who sew/knit/crochet/refashion/upcycle garments for themselves to actually wear and love them. The me-made and self-stitched challenges have been taking place for over four years now and they work on both a personal and community level. The participants decide the specifics of their own challenge pledge, so that the month is appropriate and challenging for them (more on this below). A very common pledge is for a participant to aim to wear one self-stitched or refashioned garment each day for the duration of May 2014. The participants can also choose to document their challenge with daily photos (though this is in no way compulsory for taking part) and share them with other participants.

¿Que, qué es Me Made May?

Me Made May

Day I: Scout Tee (Grainline Studio) & Tulip Skirt (Wiksten) You can laugh at me↑
Day II: Denim tulip skirt (Wiksten)
Day III: Hi! Scout tee again & my tiny Joana (a day indoors, we were in the sea front unable to go for a walk because of the huge wind gusts.)

***I've just realized how many handmade clothes I own! I really love to sew my own wardrobe, I love to think about which kind of fabric I'm going to use, which pattern I'm going to sew, the possible modifications of it... of course that I buy ready-to-wear clothes, but every season I feel more disappointed with the lack of creativity of some huge stores. Not to mention the miserable labor conditions of the workers of the textile factories. I love fashion, but I don't enjoy buying an amount of cheap clothes as I use to do some years ago.

Scout Knit Tee

When I purchased this fabric I instantly knew that it was going to be turned in a Scout Tee. Last year I sewed this same pattern in a soft floral cotton.
After seeing so many great knit versions I wanted to try my own one. I'm pretty happy with the result, even though that the next time I will go down a size (in the waist).
I finished it two weeks ago and I already wore it about six times. You never have enough basics tees, don't you?
*Excuse the crazy hair of the last pic! 0_0

In the last meeting of las Abuelitas Modernas instead of knitting we just eat&talk (shame on us); all the projects remained in our bags all the time! Oh and we did the "amigo invisible" (secret pal, in English, right?) so we exchange some handmade gifts :)))
This time we met each other on a Sunday morning in a coffee called Travel&Cake, which it turns to be a prefect place for brunch.

Wiksten Tulip Skirt II

Luckily, my little Joana lets me sew, yeah! The truth is that I can sew but with no hurries at all, one day I print the pattern, another day I measure myself, another day I cut the pattern...and a month later I can write this post! But at the end I can sew, this is the important point after all!
This tulip skirt pattern is designed by Jenny Godry. I really enjoyed practicing the several techniques that it involves as plaids and a contrasting waistband. I sewed a first tulip skirt two years ago, after making two solid colour skirts I feel like sewing a third version using a floral print fabric.
I'm a little late but I wish you a wonderful 2014! Thanks for being here!

Afortunadamente, mi pequeña Joana me permite coser!

Darling Ranges Dress (pregnancy version)

I sewed another Darling Ranges dress, a cute pattern made by the Australian Megan Nielsen.
Last year I sewed this one which I used to wear lot (before having this belly), in fact is one of my all-time favourites!
As you can see I made some modifications on the original pattern because I wanted to skip the button placket as my belly is getting bigger everyday, and at the same time, I wanted a dress which I could use until the end of my pregnancy.
I used the same floral print fabric that in this one, but in red colour. Luckily the weather is hot again, so I hope I can wear this dress during all this month.

Liberty Print Dresses

- Sessùn
- J.Crew
- Townmouse
- Marapytta
- Up the wooden hills

I'm absolutely in love with Liberty of London floral prints, these tiny flowers are perfect for summertime. I can't wait to wear sundresses all day long, I can't stand jeans any more.
***I'm taking sewing lessons again, so I hope to have some new stuff to show you very soon***
